Description:

The Guest Services Team at the Utah Shakespeare Festival ensures a welcoming, efficient, and safe experience for all patrons. Team members may serve as House Managers or Ticket Office Agents, working together to support front-of-house operations, assist guests, and uphold the Festival’s standards of excellence in customer service. Positions run from now-October 2026, with required availability for evening, weekend, and holiday shifts. Work Study approved will receive priority.

Responsibilities

  • Provide outstanding customer service by assisting patrons with ticket purchases, exchanges, inquiries, and accessibility needs both in person and over the phone.
  • Prepare ticket orders for mail or will call, and utilize ticketing software to process sales, exchanges, and returns.
  • Manage front-of-house operations including seating arrangements, usher coordination, crowd flow, and accessibility accommodations.
  • Collaborate with the ticket office, volunteers, stage management, and custodial teams to ensure a clean, safe, and organized environment before, during, and after performances.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for guest questions, concerns, and complaints, resolving issues professionally and efficiently.
  • Act as the primary contact in emergencies, coordinating with staff, patrons, and emergency services to ensure safety.
  • Attend mandatory training sessions in May/June to ensure proficiency in assigned responsibilities and safety protocols.
  • Move stanchions and signage, stock publications, and perform other light custodial or setup tasks as needed.
  • Participate in preseason setup, postseason strike, and monthly scheduling meetings as required.
  • Complete other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred (training provided if not already certified).
  • Prior experience in live theater, customer service, or event management preferred.
  • Availability for 4–6 hour shifts within operational hours of 9:45 AM to 11:30 PM, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, with the ability to stay calm under pressure and handle patron concerns effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting while maintaining professionalism and a positive attitude.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Physical ability to stand or sit for extended periods and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Professional demeanor and appearance while representing the Utah Shakespeare Festival.
